I’m back

You guys must be wondering where I have been all this time. Well, I was in China for 10 months, as you could see from my last blog post.

Although I arrived at the beginning of April, there was a lot going on, so I couln’t update this blog.

You can’t imagine how many blog posts I have planned already. Everything that happened in China, all those travel posts and more. I will be blogging in a new style now, I decided. I want to make my posts a bit shorter and just keep the most important parts inside. I hope you will like it.

I am so excited to be back here in this community, and I will try to focus more on travel posts from now on.

See you soon!

China forced me to come back ;D

As some of you know, Some websites are closed down here in China, and with some I mean almost every single one I use. I think wordpress and whatsapp are the only ones I can actually use. The rest is closed down. I really want to get a VPN especially for Instagram. I also said goodbye to wordpress but now I am forced to come back. That’s funny! :D well, anyway, I still want to continue a Blog and if it can’t be blogger right now, I will first put everything here until I finally get a VPN.
Just thought I’d let you know.

Baking Christmas Cookies

Hey guys! I know it’s been ages (18 days!!!) since the last time I blogged. I am so so sorry, and I also feel so bad, but somehow I was quite busy. Not only with uni, but also with reading books to complete my goodreads challenge to read 50 books this year. Atm I am at 47 books. I think I will catch up and manage it :) So, you can also look forward for some book reviews.

But first, before going into the reviewing part, I wanted to share pictures from the Christmas Cookies me, my sister and a friend baked on sunday. Although we don’t celebrate Christmas, I love all the sweets and decorations during the month of December. Unfortunately, everything just vanishes after New Year’s Eve :'( The Ginger Breads, The decorations and all the Christmas Markets. Well, at least we could enjoy some self-baked cookies this year :)

Here are some pictures:

2014-12-21 16.43.34 2014-12-21 17.27.20 2014-12-21 18.02.26 2014-12-21 18.09.53 2014-12-21 18.09.58 2014-12-22 13.36.46

It was so much fun baking and dekorating them, but of course, it also took a lot of time. After putting 4 whole trays into the oven, we decorated for over an hour o.O We finished the Chocolate sauce, and some of the decoration pens :D

I wished we could bake more cookies, but tomorrow (or already today) it is the 24th and everyone will be celebrating Christmas the following few days. I wish all of you happy holidays and a merry christmas. I will be in Frankfurt starting tomorrow, at some family friends’. Their aunt died a few weeks ago, and we wanted to visit them because of that. So probably, you’ll read more of me at the weekend.

See you later and thanks for reading.

I have of course also watched some movies in the holidays. They will also be reviewed.

And when I got back to Germany, I also ventured something with friends and so on. There will also be some posts about that.

Very Inspiring Blogger Award

20140611-182206-66126167

Yippie!! Finally another Award than the Liebster Award (for which I was nominated about 3 times I think) or the Beautiful Blogger Award. It is the Very Inspiring Blogger Award for which I was nominated by Jane over at cupidorcats.

Her blog is hilarious! I love reading new posts from her, be it fun posts or informative ones. During a short time it has become one of my favorite blogs. You should definitely check out her blog, it makes me laugh every time, and I am sure that it will make you laugh as well :)

So, now to the rules.

1.Thank and link the amazing person who nominated you.
2.List the rules and display the award.
3.Share seven facts about yourself.
4.Nominate 15 other amazing blogs and comment on their posts to let them know they have been nominated.
5.Optional: Proudly display the award logo on your blog and follow the blogger who nominated you.

Puh, now I have to list 7 Facts about me, right? I hope that I won’t repeat myself. Have fun:

  1. Although I am a girl who loves shopping, I nevertheless hate buying shoes. It is so annoying to try on several pairs, and decide whether they are comfortable or not. Plus, my feet have different sizes, and are quite big for my physical height (physical height: 1.60m; fooz size: 39-40). The reason why I am telling you this right now is because I have a huge blister on my left foot from my sandals. It hurts so much, that I can’t even walk properly right now. I will never again buy cheap shoes…
  2. I love airports and being at an airport. I just love the futuristic technology you have there, and the huge windows, and of course, the fact that it is a place of travelling. I travelled by plane since I was a little kid, because we always went to Turkey on vacation, so I have never been afraid of flying. I actually like the feeling of it, although…
  3. I slightly have a fear of heights. But only if I stay somewhere which is not closed. If it is a closed building or tower, I am not afraid. But if it would be a cliff or a stadium, I would shit myself :’D
  4. In the past, I disliked most vegetables like Broccoli, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, sprouts, and so on. After I began cooking myself last year, I started eating those vegetables I didn’t like, because I couldn’t stand the nice smell while cooking them :’D
  5. I like watching movies more than watching TV series.
  6. I have a deep fear of gum shrinking and loosing all my teeth. I sometimes have nightmare about that. I also fear dentists
  7. I wish to have some tattoos in the future. I already have some ideas, but I lack the money for it.

Puh, the 7 Facts were quite easy nevertheless.

And now, the 15 Inspiring Blogger Nominees. Here they are.

Surprise Post

As you might remember, I promised a long time ago (actually a few weeks ago) to do a surprise post. In this surprise post I want to mention my friend Ruiqi (pronounced: Chichi) who is in South Korea right now, doing an internship. She also has a wordpress blog, and it is beautiful! You should check it out here!

Her blog started when she decided to study abroad for a year in Seoul. Now she continues with an internship at a company which publishes magazines like the Korean Harper’s Bazaar. In the meantime she changed the company. If you like reading about fashion, music, food, nice cafes, restaurants, locations, and sights in South Korea, then you should definitely check out her blog, immediately! :)

From my “real-world” friends, she is the only one who is also blogging on WordPress. Most of my friends have a blog on Tumblr, me too, by the way, but after a while I was bored by only reblogging, and wanted to write more. I then recommended Chichi to blog on WordPress to keep her experiences of South Korea. So, this is also a little “thank you” for not leaving me alone on WordPress ;D

Furthermore, I also wanted to thank her for her little presents, and the postcard lately :) It brightened up my day, even though it might just be a little letter. In my opinion, a cute writing can make someone happier than expensives gifts. Thank you again, Chichi! I am glad that I met you, and this surprise post is dedicated to you ;)

Here are some of the gifts she sent me:

A dolphin soap, pagemarker, bookmark, and exlibris

I got the letter and these cute little gifts sometime around February from her :) I was so happy, because they all looked so cute.

20140320_114317
I used a few of the pagemarkers for the books I needed for my term paper. But not too many, because they are so cute and I don’t dare using them all up :D
20140320_231142
This is another kind of bookmark. Quite interesting though. Never saw one like that :)
20140217_221826
As you can see I have already used some for my boks :) It is something like a sticker or marker that you can apply inside your books so that the persons you lend the books to know that this was from you :) This is very good for me, because I love my books, and I can’t tolerate if people forget to give them back to me :D

Then, she also sent me a beautiful postcard from Harper’s Bazaar around March.

20140524_165023

I really was happy about this postcard and her kind words :) Thanks again!

I could also post more photos from earlier times (2 years ago, hoho), but then the post would be too long. Maybe I will do another post like this soon. Until then, keep on liking and commenting on her blog and feel free to follow her :)

Thanks for reading!

Zombie Apocalypse Tag

Yesterday, I browsed through youtube’s booktubers and watched some videos about the Zombie Apocalypse Tag. I thought it would be very fun if it was possible for bloggers as well. Then I saw the post at bftreviews, and immediately decided to do it as well :D The rules are as follows:

1) select 5 books

2) Draw one book (I wrote them down and drew them from a jar)

3) Flip open a page from that book, read through the page until you see a name in it.

4) That name is the first answer to the first question.

5) There are two questions for each book.

For the next question you always have to flip through the pages anew :) You can’t use the same character twice.

I took books from which I still remember the characters.

Image

And here are my answers.

Book One: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

  • The first person to die: Jane! OMG NOOO!!! Always the kindest ones… :(
  • The first person you trip to get away from the zombies: Lydia. HAHAHA okay, I can live with my murder. I hated her anyway :’D

Book Two: Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov

  • The first person to turn into a zombie: Lo. Hmmmm… I am not sure what to think of that :’D
  • The person that trips you to get away from the zombies: Charlotte (the mother). hahah … oh goddd, that’s totally her arrogant character :’D

Book Three: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling

  • The idiot of the team: Harry. xDDD What the!
  • The brains of the team: Krum o.O Probably he took Hermione as a role model and started getting smart :’D

Books Four: The Fault in our Stars by John Green

  • The teams medic: Hazel. eeer, ok, we will all die in this team :’D :’D
  • The weapons expert: Augustus. That’s okay I think.

Book Five: Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami

  • The brawler: Toru. Hmm, he is actually a calm kind of guy :’D
  • The team captain: Midori! Haha, that’s perfect, because she can be bossy sometimes :D

I am not sure what to think of my team. I think we will maybe last 1 hour or so?

But it was quite fun :’D I recommend you all doing this, too. When you do, please comment or link back ;)

My Life in Books Tag

I saw this post over at Books For Thought, and decided to do it as well because it is going to be sooo much fun, and quite interesting and creative :) She has found that tag at the youtube channel of jesse the reader, which I also follow and enjoy. He is quite funny, you should check him out :D

Here are my answers:

Pick a book that starts with each of you initials.

The Makioka Sisters by Jun’ichiro Tanizaki. I don’t own that book, but maybe I should read it in the future :)

Count you age starting at the top of your bookshelf. What book is it?

My 22nd book is The Beautiful and Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald :) I like that really. Somehow it fits to the age of 22 ;D

Find a book that takes place in your country, state, or city.

Das Mädchen und die Herzogin by Astrid Fritz. It is set in Stuttgart, Germany, so that’s why the book is in german. I also don’t think that there is a translation of that.

Pick a book that represents a destination that you’d love to travel to.

That’s a bit hard, but I think I would pick Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami, since I really really want to go to Tokyo, Japan.

Pick your book that has your favourite colour on it.

Image

Although I don’t own this book, and I also didn’t like it that much, it contains both of my favorite colors: Red and Purple.

Which book do you have the fondest memories of.

Harry Potter probably, or most definitely I would say. It has accompanied me through my life and has a significant place in my heart.

Which book did you have the most difficulty reading.

The Lord of the Rings series or rather, the first two books since I could never get myself into reading the third. I really found it difficult to get into that writing style. I was very bored, I unfortunately have to admit. The movie, on the other hand, was a blast!

Which book on your TBR pile will give you the most satisfaction when you read it.

Probably almost every book standing on my shelf and waiting for me to pick it up. However, I think it will be a great accomplishment to read finally read the classics such as The Hound of the Baskervilles, Wuthering Heights, The Idiot, and so on.

Oh, we have come to an end of that Tag. That was really a lot of fun! Maybe I should do more book tags in the future :)

Everyone can feel free to participate. I would be happy if you could leave a comment so that I can check out your answers as well :)

Thanks for reading!
