A-Z Challenge Day 19: Q like Queen, Queens of the Stone Age

Because I was away during the weekend, I couldn’t post about the letter Q. And unfortunately, I only know two bands beginning with this strange letter. I’ll show them to you.

1) Queen:

Members: Freddie Mercury (Vocals, Piano), Brian May (Guitar, Vocals), Roger Taylor (Drums, Vocals), John Deacon (E-Bass)

Formed in: 1970. London, England.

Genre(s): Rock

Discography (Total 15): Queen (1973), Queen II (1974), A Night at the Opera (1975), A Day at the Races (1976), …

Of course everyone knows Queen. Their songs are famous hymns, and Freddie Mercury is a creative legend. I personally knew some songs of them, but after I saw and heard the musical We will Rock You, I fell in love with that band. Their music is unique, at the same time represents perfectly an era. And the lyrics are so poetic, that it might even be considered as world literate. Here is my favorite Queen Song.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Other Songs I like: Another one Bites the Dust, We will Rock You, Don’t Stop me Now, Cosmos Rockin’,…

2) Queens of the Stone Age:

Members: Josh Homme (Vocals, Guitar), Troy Van Leeuwen (Guitar, Keyboard, Vocals, Lap-Steel), Jon Theodore (Drums), Michael Shuman (Bass-Guitar, Vocals), Dean Fertitia (Keyboard, Vocals, Guitar, Percussion)

Formed in: 1996. Palm Desert, California, USA.

Genre(s): Alternative Rock, Stoner Rock

Discography (Total 6): Queens of the Stone Age (1998), Rated R (2000), Lullabies to Paralyze (2005),…

To be honest, I don’t know a lot of songs by this band. I have only listened to some good songs that I can’t remember anymore. It caught my attention after I listened to the Dead Weather, because Dean Fertitia is also a member. Their music is rebellious, that is for sure, and one thing I positively remember. Here is an example.

The Fun Machine took a Shit! And Died

Yup, we are already at the end. Unfortunately, it was a bit poor today, because we only had two bands, and both were bands I only know a little bit. But I hope you had fun.

Do you know more artists starting with the letter Q? Which are they?

Thanks for reading!
