Upcoming Movies 2014 – Part 1

I felt like doing this, because I am so curious to see the trailers of some movies which will air this year. I will post the ones which I would really like to see in 2014. Here we go.

February:

– 7th: The Lego Movie

The_Lego_Movie_poster

Director: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller

Cast: Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks

Genre: Animation

OMG! I totally have to watch this! I loved Lego as a kid, and I still think it is a great toy. There is even  Legoland here in Germany which is utterly amazing. This movie is maybe rather for kids, but I love those. And I really like about it, that it mocks our world because we buy expensive coffee from Starbucks, and think it’s cool, or the fact that the most Über-superhero Batman is being mocked :’D I want to watch this movie. Definitely!

– 7th: Monuments Men

Director: George Clooney

Cast: George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray

Genre: Action, Biography

This movie sounds interesting, since it is another kind of war movie. They want to save important monuments from the explosives of the nazis. Sounds amusing and very clever to me :) Double plus: Actors like George Clooney, Matt Damon, or Cate Blanchett.

– 14th: Vampire Academy

books_vampireacademy_big

Director: Mark Waters

Cast: Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry

Genre: Fantasy

I am not quite sure what to think of this movie. On the one hand I think:”Oh no, not another vampire novel adaption again”, but on the other hand this one seems a bit different from the whole vampire franchise like twilight or vampire diaries. It seems cheeky, and self-ironic. AND it is from the makers of Mean Girls which really is a clever teenie movie :’D maybe I will watch this. I’ll see.

March:

– 7th The Grand Budapest Hotel:

grand-budapest-hotel

Director: Wes Anderson

Cast: Ralph Fiennes, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton,…

Genre: Comedy

I am overwhelmed right now by the great selection of superb actors for this movie! I haven’t quite figured out what this is about, but it definitely looks so interesting, and I think it has a great humour. No doubt with first class actors like Bill Murray or Harvey Keitel :)

– 14th: Need for Speed

Need for Speed Movie

Director: Scott Waugh

Cast: Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper

Genre: Action

Hmm, probably I will watch this movie some time, when I feel like watching an action movie with a lot of explosions and stuff like that. And I think it’s quite interesting seeing the Breaking Bad Co-star Aaron Paul in a Fast and the Furious rip-off.

– 28th: Noah

noah-poster

Director: Darren Aronofsky

Cast: Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson

Genre: Drama

Well, it’s an Arronofsky Movie, starring Emma Watson. Of course I am going to watch it, even if the topic of the movie doesn’t appeal to me that much.

April

– 4th: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

captain-america-the-winter-soldier

Director: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo

Cast: Chris Evans, Frank Grillo

Genre: Action, Science-Fiction, Adventure

Yes, I know, I also have a little bit enough of all that Superhero movies, but you just can’t resist them, especially when you have such great actors, like Scarlett Johansson, or Samuel L. Jackson (Chris Evans is rather unimportant). Fact is, I still have to watch the first Captain America :)

– 11th: Rio2

Director: Carlos Saldanha

Cast: Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg

Genre: Animation

I also have to admit that I didn’t watch the first movie, yet, but the last part of the trailer convinced me: I have to watch them both :’D it looks so cute and funny! I just literally had to laugh out loud :’D

– 18th: Transcendence

Transcendence-data-cloud-of-Johnny-Depp-movie-poster

Director: Wally Pfister

Cast: Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman

Genre: Action, Science-Fictiom

Well, I am not quite sure what to think of this film, but I will definitely watch it because of my favorite actor Johnny Depp, and Morgan Freeman. And, Christopher Nolan produced it. I am not quite sure what this movie is about, but the past seconds of the trailer hugely remind me of The Matrix. I am also not quite sure what to expect from Johnny Depp in a typical Hollywood Science-Fiction Movie, since this is not typically his genre. I think I wouldn’t urgently want to watch this movie, if it wasn’t for Johnny, and I dont think that this will be my favorite movie of him. But still, wondering about this movie.

May:

– 2nd: The Amazing Spiderman 2

the-amazing-spider-man-2-poster-electro-large

Director: Marc Webb

Cast: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx

Genre: Action, Adventure

Obviously, Andrew Garfield is the more handsome Spiderman. And Emma Stone the more attractive girlfriend. But I will still fancy the Spiderman movies with Tobey Maguire, because they were so beautiful, and dreamful. I loved them. After watching them, I never liked any superhero better than Spiderman, not even Christpher Nolan’s Batmans which are overrated anyway, because the older movies are onehundredandthousand times better. But back to the topic, I still want to watch this movie, because of the 2 cuties, and because it is closer to the comics, at least that’s what I’ve heard…

– 9th: Neighbors

Neighbors-Movie

Director: Nicholas Stoller

Cast: Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Zac Efron

Genre: Comedy

For the first time ever, Zac Efron really fits into his role, namely that of a douchebag :’D but nevertheless, I still want to watch this movie, because of Seth Rogen. And it actually seems to be a very funny one

– 16th: Godzilla

godzilla2014_poster2

Director: Gareth Edwards

Cast: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen

Genre: Action, Sci-Fi

The last Godzilla movie I watched, it was the newest one, was horribly boring. It once came on TV and I watched it with my father, but almost slept in which is very unfortunate, because the movie, as I remember it from my childhood was not bad at all, although the technology of today is way better. But I have to say that this trailer looks very good. With Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who looks like the handsome version of Daniel Radcliffe, I hope it will be a treat for the eyes.

– 23rd: X-Men – Days of Future Past

two-generations-unite-in-x-men-days-of-future-past-posters

Director: Bryan Singer

Cast: Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence

Genre: Action, Fantasy

The cast speaks volumes: Next to the old hands like Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry or Ian McKellen, we’ll see many new stars like Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender. Definitely worth a watch, and probably one of the more interesting Marvel movies this year. But once again, I have to admit that I haven’t watched any X-Men movie, except for the first Wolverine. I definitely have to make good for that.

– 30th: Maleficient

c0b1a0a9-04fc-4c34-a018-06033f5ca8e3_Maleficent

Director: Robert Stromberg

Cast: Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning

Genre: Fantasy

This. Movie. This will definitely be a movie to watch at the cinema. The cast is wonderful, the soundtrack is magical (Lana Del Rey!!!), and the story is one of the best fairytales. I can’t wait for this movie!

– 30th: Million Ways to die in the West

amillionwaysheader

Director: Seth MacFarlane

Cast: Seth MacFarlane, Charlize Theron, Neil Patrick Harris,…

Genre: Comedy

The only reason I would watch this movie is because of the cast, mainly because of Neil Patrick Harris, Sarah Silverman, and Liam Neeson. I also like it that it is a comedy western, but I didn’t laugh once during this trailer. I am not sure if something is wrong with me, but I couldn’t chum up with Ted neither. I think I can only understand MacFarlane’s humour if it is in a cartoon :’D

June:

– 6th: The Fault in Our Stars

OR_The-Fault-in-Our-Stars-2014-movie-Wallpaper-1280x800-1000x625

Director: Josh Boone

Cast: Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort

Genre: Drama

To be honest, I am not a fan of love movies, at least not the typical ones. But this trailer just made my eyes wet. But before watching this film, I will have to read the book by John Green. I wanted to read it since weeks now, because it was being recommended in so many blogs and forums. And after watching this trailer, I think that it deserves all that hype. It might seem to have a usual topic, but it is set in a problematic background. It is simple, yet touching, at least that’s what I guess. And I am looking forward for it.

– 13th: 22 Jump Street

22-jump-street-poster

Director: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller

Cast: Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Ice Cube

Genre: Comedy, Action

Now, THIS is what I call a funny comedy movie :’D alright, it seems like another movie about american college partys, but I love Jonah Hill’s movies, because they automatically are funny :’D he doesn’t even have to say something xD and Channing Tatum is like the whole opposite of him, but he still looks so funny in this movie. I think it’s Hill’s humoristic charisma: anyone close to him will get automatically funny as well :’D Well, the first movie was already funny. And another commitment: I haven’t watched the original 21 Jump Street starring Johnny Depp. Well  alright, it was a series, a TV series I think, but still a vacancy in my brain. It seems like this postnis full of commitments :’D

Movie I will definitely NOT watch:

– 27th: Transformers – Age of Extinction

maxresdefault

Director: Michael Bay

Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz

Genre: Action, Sci-Fi

The last two Transformers were really shitty. And after watching this trailer I am sure it won’t get any better. Did Michael Bay really think his movie would get any better when exchanging Shia with Mark Wahlberg? I dislike Wahlberg and his movies, and that’s another reason why I won’t watch this movie. Oh, and did I say that I’ve got enough of movies which deal with a higher power, probably alien which tries to destroy the world, and build in as many destruction scenes as possible. They are yo boring. I already had enough in Man of Steel. Hollywood, you have to come up with something different, really!

So, that was the first part of the view on the up opcoming movies in 2014. To be continued…

  1. There are some good ones on this list I’ll have to remind myself to see them. I like kids movies too, not much concentration needed and laughs guaranteed! I watched a clip on cnn today on Need For Speed. No special computer CGI effects…old school Smokey and the Bandit style!
